Eldritch Lands

Something vast sleeps under the Lands. A holy kingdom grew rich keeping it asleep, then cut it open, and rotted. Now it dreams, and the dead keep waking up. You are one of them.

Into the Lands

Walk the Lands

A gate town under a frozen cliff, a wood where the bark looks like skin, an ash desert around the skull of something that failed. Every place here is a real capture from the game as it stands today.

Timber houses of Vigil Hollow under a grey cliff wall
Vigil HollowGate townCarved into a cliff around a sealed iron gate that faces the frozen north. Most lives start here.
Pale birch-like trees in low fog
The Pallid WoodCrossroadsPale trees with bark like skin, low fog and toppled saints. The busiest road, and the most dangerous.
Two timber houses in thick fog
AshmereHamletA handful of houses that keep their doors shut after dark, for reasons nobody will say out loud.
Black trunks in a dark forest
GloamwoodDark forestNo light reaches the floor. The lantern-keepers sell oil and passage, and ask no questions.
A cathedral fortress behind walls in mist
GreywardenCastle-cityA cathedral-fortress ruled by a mad prelate whose Bellwardens burn anything the Sleeper dreamed. That includes you.
A giant skull and ribs half buried in ash
The Ashen ReachDesertGrey dunes under a dim red sun, with the ribs and skull of a Saint who tried to hold it down.
Snow pines and a glacier
The Hoarfrost WasteFrozen northWhiteout fog, bodies in the ice, and a chained giant who is still holding on.

How a life goes

Your character is borrowed. The Sleeper dreams you back after each death, and each time it remembers you a little less.

  1. Wake

You open your eyes in the crypt under Vigil Hollow with a race you did not choose and a face the Sleeper made up for you. Pick a name, then climb out into the town.

  2. Endure

A clapperless bell counts your days. Eat, keep warm, find a trainer, carry silver and trinkets home. Every day you survive makes you harder to kill.

  3. Die

Each death costs one of your lives. When they run out, the next death can wipe you for good, and your lineage carries on in a new body. Leave in the middle of a fight and it counts as a death.

  4. Pay the toll

Spend your last life and you wake in the Tollhouse, where the Ferryman offers three ways back. None of them are free.
